Growing up we never put much Christ in Christmas. We went to Mass most Christmas - at least I have memories of either attending or waiting for someone to come home from Mass. I don't remember ever having a Advent Wreath. Now that I have my own family - we have one every year - but I still struggle to light it every night at dinner, partly because we don't always have dinner together every night, or always sit at the table (more bad habits from my youth - living room watching TV meals). WE try.
I have also had many a year where I completely forget to replace the candles until that first Sunday in Advent, and then I can never find them. This year, months in advance, I found this wooden holder with the 4 Advent candles in it. It was pretty plain - so I decided to channel my inner Martha - which is really really INNER lol!! At our local Christmas story I found these sprigs of different greens and did my best to wrap them together. I had to include a rose after my time in Rio during World Youth Day - and the miraculous Shower of Roses St. Therese brought me. It is rustic, and not round, and a little light on greenery - my husband lovingly dubbed it, Our Advent Stick
