Here we are at almost the half-way point in Advent. How's your season going? Have you managed to keep up with any of the plans you set? Are your Advent candles burnt down? Are all the windows to date in your Advent calendars opened?
I try to treat my spiritual preparation for Advent as seriously as I do the season of Lent. I do find the added preparation of the Christmas season, along with the normal end of the year work/home wrap up makes it a great more difficult to be faithful to my plans. However, this year, being inspired by a friend to create the Snap~a~Day Advent photo challenge has provided me at least one Advent constant!
I have really enjoyed not only interpreting the themes myself, but seeing how those people participating have done so as well. In addition I decided to join in with Busted Halo and CatholicSistas photo challenges as well. I may not always have dinner together with my family, but I seem to be able to find time to take a picture, hashtag it, and post on Instagram!
My Advent has mostly been spent preparing for the launch of my new LIVE daily radio program launching January 5th, on Real Life Radio! This is an exciting new adventure, one I am trying to be assured that God would not have called me to if He hadn't planned on providing me all that I need to accomplish it. My plans have included selecting books that will be showcased on the show each week, arranging my weekly guest (the Author of said book), and arranging for 2 special monthly segments with book reviewers Sarah Reinhard and Pete Socks (Catholic Book Blogger). Now, to learn the technology aspect of producing a LIVE broadcast from my home studio (aka bedroom) every, single day!! **More on that to come soon - including the book line up for those who want to read along!)
Today's "to do" includes my Christmas letter, which I have written for the last 19 years, and in the last 10 have tried to use to witness to what God has done in our lives over the past year. This year His goodness has been off the CHARTS and I can't wait to share.
Speaking of sharing -- how have you been preparing your heart and home for Christmas this Advent?
