In today's reflection from the Living Gospel: Daily Devotions for Advent 2014, Fr. R. Scott Hurd writes,
"Today's gospel (Luke 1:46-56 aka The Magnificat) presents to us what we might consider to be the first Christmas song, Mary's Magnificat...her song is about what God the Father has done for all of humanity."
This got me thinking about God has done for me, not only throughout my life, but even in just the last few months.
These achievements and blessings I could attribute all to myself with a prideful inflation of my chest, but I know and can not deny, from whence they came and for WHOSE glory they are for! I pray, like Mary, MY SOUL too will MAGNIFY THE LORD!
Fr. Hurd suggests listening closely to one of your favorite religious Christmas songs, and consider what that means to you? My favorite is Mary Did You Know, and I highly recommend the Pentatonix version. However, to share with you today, I have chosen my absolute FAVORITE Christmas song of all time, "Carol of the Bells". I love every version - and even had a friend share a Carol of the Bells only playlist of Spotify for my listening pleasure. In honor of getting to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra live this weekend with Adam and my hubby, and my infinity for Christmas Lights, here is a little Christmas joy to meditate upon:
