54 Days of (good) Readings for Lent and the Easter Season ...
,Each day provides the reader:
While I realize Lent has already begun - I still think this book is one to consider to add to ( or make your) Lenten reading. If you order through Amazon, you'll have by Monday (or Tuesday) -- and still have nearly 50 days left to journey along with it ...
Below are a few examples of the questions posed by John Cleary at the close of each chapter, and my responses. I WOULD love your thoughts on them as well!!
Question #1 (from Day 1) : What can Jesus provide that satisfies the hunger I feel at my core?
Jesus provides me someone outside myself to turn to. IT Is scary when you think live is all you - and that you are responsible for everything! Jesus reveals the Father - and his teachings leave me filled with peace, hope and joy (when I AM allowing him to teach and not working against him!!).
Question #2 (from Day 2): How Does Fasting Shape Your Prayer Life?
For me, fasting is from things moreso than food. For Lent every year (since 2007 - maybe longer), I have given up television. It is the one distraction I can never pull away from once I begin, even silly game apps have only so many 'lives' before you are bounced from the game - but not TV it is indefinite once it is on. So in this case fasting provides me LOTS of extra time for spiritual reading, studying scripture and blogging!
Question #3 (from Day 3): What are your Lenten Goals
I'm a Lent overachiever, so I will not share them all -- but my ultimate goal is fill up with God's abundant grace. Grace provides me with clarity in mission and strength in faith. I could use both after my insane close to 2015 ... Listen HERE for all the gory details!
I kicked off the Lenten season begging people not to leave social media or internet use - for many reasons, but also a little selfishly out of desire not to be ALONE here during this grace-filled time! Moral support, spiritual sharing of thoughts and idea, and so many more positive good things happening online to keep connected for. It is, of course, all about balance - below is my musings from Tuesday on more of my goals.
