This week, along with Debbie Gaudino over on Saints 365, I embarked on a 14-Day Heroic Minute Challenge. We are presently on Day 4. We have barely begun this bad boy! This is actually the easy portion of the challenge. It is fresh and new for starters, and my schedule is conducive to getting up at 5:30 a.m. Every Monday through Thursday, I am required (for mommy duty) to wake at this insane hour and get my daughter ready for her 6 a.m. bus pick up. Yes! 6 a.m., my sweet darling daughter travels nearly 45 minutes every day to her school, one specifically (and fabulously) for teaching the Deaf. My REAL challenge will begin on Friday morning, when my husband works from home and would typically take care of the morning duties so I can sleep in ... and then comes the weekend! I will not get ahead of myself - today I will revel in the sweet success of the first 4 days of the 14-Day "Heroic Minute" Challenge.
My interview with Debbie introducing the 14-day Challenge:
Small Success #1
My success - so far this week - is waking up each day at 5:30 a.m. (no snooze) AND STAYING up! Yes, staying up! On more than one occasion, I will admit, that after my daughter's bus as vanished into the early morning twilight, I have returned to my still warm, comfy bed.
One of the benefits of beginning to Bullet Journal was discovering just HOW much I would desire to accomplish, especially with this beautiful Reconciled To You ministry. The downside of the journal process was becoming painfully aware of how much time I waste especially in allowing myself those early-morning naps. As a test run before Debbie and I launched the challenge on Monday, I tried last week to get and stay up more often. Although amazed by the increase in productivity, I was not surprised. The Lord has given me only so much time upon this earth - I do not wish to waste a moment of it on idle activities or excess sleep. I want to be heroic for GOD... and for HIS Great Glory!!
So my first small success for this week was diligently waking for the last 4 days at the appointed time and staying awake! Immediately consecrating my day to the Lord, and offering appropriate amounts of time for prayer, work and yes even (guilt free) leisure!! Now to finish those dreaded taxes ... PLEASE Lord let this a small success this week!
Small Success #2
When I SAY Small Success - I apparently mean it.
This week I went out to dinner and shopping with a friend to celebrate her 50th birthday! For the last 32 years, I have been blessed to call her friend! Even though our lives are super busy and in completely different directions, we've made a commitment to see each other as monthly as possible. When we first made this decision our night out included dinner and grocery shopping OR laundry (true story). As the years have passed it has now settled into a comfy dinner and shopping (for ourselves); sometimes just dinner. During my financial crisis at the end of last year, she even picked up the tab so that we'd not miss our holiday visit!
So what does that have to do with an egg cooker? Right ... squirrel moment. Tuesday night after our celebratory dinner, we ventured over to HomeGoods (this was my first visit); and after posting on Facebook that morning for advice on how to cook and peel the perfect hard boiled egg -- I FOUND THIS! Prayer answered! Works amazingly!

After a nearly 4 month hiatus from the weekly giveaways I am blesssed to offer on A Seeking Heart with Allison Gingras (on Breadbox Media) - I finally got my act together last week to bring them back!! You can Enter HERE!
I HAVE A lot of prizes to catch up on!! The Catholic publishers and authors, I work with are SO GENEROUS and always offer copies of the Seeking Heart featured books and more!
This week in honor of The 14-day "Heroic Minute" Challenge, Debbie Guadino, Saints 365 is giving away a copy of St Josemaria Escriva's incredible book: The Way. I am not only giving away 2 copies of Susan Tassone's books on Purgatory; but also a very special rosary and novena book. This copy of the Rosary Novena to Our Lady was given to me in October, 2015, by this elderly woman I was introduced to during a small group discussion. I was sharing how I had just finished praying at 54-Rosary Novena but things seemed to be spiraling down instead of up! She quickly reached into her purse and handed me this tattered and well loved booklet. I began my 54-Day journey with it that very evening! Little did I know just HOW bad things were about to become and how miraculously cared for and graced through those dark days we'd be. I completely credit my preparedness and peace to this novena - and now want to bless-it-forward!
