On July 20th I (along with my oldest son, Ian), will depart Boston for a day at JFK in New York. We will be meeting many new friends that will be sharing the World Youth Day experience. The majority of these friends will be Deaf, and I will have the unique and amazing experience, of not only travelling with them, but also learning more of their beautiful language - American Sign Language (ASL)!! Once we've had a day to share the Lord's Supper, our supper (lunch too), and get all acquainted we'll be off to Rio de Janeiro for 10 days filled with awe, grace, wonder and Spiritual Blessings. This is not a vacation - it is a PILGRIMAGE -- so we do expect hardships and trying times - esp. when nearly 3 million of us converge on the site for the vigil and closing Mass .. but I'm getting ahead of myself.
For today we only need the following links to be able to follow along on this grand adventure:
I will be recording my experiences here in this Blog (please share!) as well as on the Ignatian Spirituality facebook page (I'll post the specific links for those when they are posted!). Still want more-- I can't blame you... For even more fabulous WYD coverage bookmark: The Boston Deaf Apostolate page and Boston Archdiocese pages !!
