Every now and then I'm inspired during prayer to try a new devotion. It is one of my favorite aspects of being Catholic -the myriad and plethora of devotions available to assist in our spiritual journey!
On the current docket - The First Friday Devotion, which I quickly learned was linked with the Sacred Heart of Jesus - hence most call it First Friday Devotion TO The Sacred Heart. Funny, how you can know about something but really not a clue what it truly is. I knew there existed a special blessing to receiving the Eucharist for 9 consecutive First Fridays (side note: the devotion is Eucharist does not necessary have to attached to a Mass, as will happen in 2015 -when the First Friday in April will also be GOOD Friday. One will be able to receive the Eucharist but there will not be a Mass celebrated.)
First, I need to share the cool godcidence moment with this whole thing:
Yes, I know.. that's incredible! Well at least in my mind it is. I LOVE these in-breaking moments of the Holy Spirit's presence in my life. I could easily ignore it all as mere coincidence, and go on wondering if God exists and/or hears my prayers. OR I could, as I choose to do - by awed every moment of, every day - that God has given me life, and that He is such an integral part of that life! Thanks to the invention of blogging.... I hope that I can inspire you to embrace this devotion with me!!
As I often do when I discover a new book I love, I will use it as fodder for several upcoming RTY blogs. Although this book was provided to me from Philip Michael Bulman to review, I see it as a gift from the Holy Spirit - and I am excited to share it with you - and encourage you to pick up a copy of your own if you too are looking to grow in devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus!
