Good Friday and the Surprise Fiction book nestled beautifully throughout this non-fiction powerhouse! This Good Friday will be different. Additionally, I expect it to be my most moving and spiritually fruitful every! My parish has a beautiful tradition of opening the Church and holding different activities from Noon to Three o’clock. My Pastor preaches for the first half; and the second can be used to sit in quiet prayer (or you can go home); followed by the living stations of the cross. Since, in the past when left ot my own devices at home I’ve fallen asleep during that most holy of times – one of the ways I DO NOT wish to emulate the Apostles – I have taken to staying firmly planted in the not so comfy pew (awake) and in quiet contemplation. What will be different this year? I will bring Walk in Her Sandals with me. In addition to reading the scripture and reflections for chapter 3 (dedicated to Good Friday); I will also read the FICTION story. These masterfully crafted stories of the many women was encountered Christ that fateful Good Friday; are woven within each of the chapters. My advice, find a quiet place for yourself during Good Friday – and read each of them all the way through as a unbroken story. Disclaimer To Aforementioned Idea: I MAY have stolen this idea from Kelly Wahlquist when she was a guest on A Seeking Heart – the downside to reading to so much and being blessed with a plethora of interviews – you tend to forget where others ideas end and yours start! Wherever it originated; this is an idea worth following through on!! Stephanie Landsem’s characters, based on their biblical counterparts, will transport you back along the road to Calvary and at the foot of the cross. Disclaimer #2 – bring a tissue!
